North Port Fusion U-10 Boys

The NPFC U-10 Boys team had a great 2013-2014 season.  Even though it was only our second season together as a team, the boys finished the regular season with the record of 12-1-3 at the academy level.  We played against great clubs like Englewood, Sarasota, Venice and Braden River.
We competed in two tournaments this season and two friendly tournaments, which are a part of the regular season.  The toughest tournament we played was the Largo March Madness tournament.  Here, we had the opportunity to play against teams from different areas of the state and even different areas of the country.  We saw a lot of improvement in the team playing in this tournament and even though we didn’t win the whole thing, we ended tied for third place with a record of 1-2-0. Another tournament we competed in this season was the St. Pete Best of the Bay tournament against teams from around the state of Florida.  I believe by the time we played this tournament the boys had the experience necessary to play against top teams at the tournament level; and the result was awesome. With a record of 4-0-0 we finished in first place and took the trophy home.  I believe this is our first of many trophies together as a team.
As a coach, I have to say I am looking forward to conquer more goals with the boys and we are always pushing to get better.  There is always room for improvement especially with this talented group of players.  This coming season will be a bigger challenge as we move from playing 6v6 to playing 8v8, but the boys are ready.  As the coach, my plans moving forward for the team are to win a large tournament such as Largo March Madness and to continue improving as a team. One thing we always try to teach our boys is to play our game and our game is possession; keep control of the ball at all times.  Possession has been and always will be our main goal.
