Relay for Life
On May 3-4, 2008, North Port Youth Soccer participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event held at our soccer fields at Butler Park . NPYS, along with the boy scouts, were the only local youth organizations participating in this event. North Port Youth Soccer takes great pride in the fact that our club not only strives to provide for our members, but that we also reach out to the community for worthwhile causes such as this. We were one of 26 fundraising teams that participated in this endeavor. NPYS raised just over $1,500 in our fundraising efforts.
To put the event into perspective, the 2007 event was attended by only 6 teams that together raised a total of $6,000. The 2008 event had 26 teams that combined to raise over $51,000 for the American Cancer Society . Several soccer families, numerous board members and other members of our soccer family camped out for the entire night with very little sleep for most.
North Port Youth Soccer would like to thank all of those who gave of their time, money and efforts to ensure that we were a very important part of this wonderful event. We will again plan on participating in the 2009 Relay for Life and look forward to maintaining a long-standing association with this event.
