Modified Rules for NPYS Soccer
NPYS Spring 2012 U6 Rules
- 50% PLAY Rule - Always at least 50% playing time for all kids.
- No shin guards = no play.
- U6 cannot touch ball inside goal box. (Defensive touch results in a goal for opposing team, Offensive touch results in a goal kick for opposing team.)
- No offside called.
- Substitutions allowed by either team on any dead ball.
- Penalty Kicks/Free Kicks will be awarded if the penalty calls for it. All Penalty Kicks/Free Kicks are from the midfield line with all of the other players behind the ball (Empty Net). Once the ball is played it becomes a live ball.
- A goal cannot be scored from a kickoff. The ball must touch at least one other player before going in the goal.
- Game length: U6 will play four (8 minute) periods. with 2 min break between periods.
- Maximum number of players on the field for U-6 is 5 Players on each side.
- Red and Yellow cards will be given if the penalty warrants.
- All other NPYS rules and regulations remain unchanged.
- In U6 the coach may go onto the field to help assist in positioning of players on Goal kicks, Corner Kicks and Throw-ins. The coach must not interfere with play and must have an assistant on the sideline with the team.
- No score will be kept. This is recreational soccer and the purpose is for the players to have fun and to develop a love for the game. Make it fun for all of the players.
NPYS Spring 2012 U8 Rules

U10 Rules for Spring 2012 Soccer
- 50% Play Rule - Always at least 50% playing time for all kids.
- No shin guards = no play.
- Goalies must wear alternate shirt color (pennies can be used)
- No offside called during play for U10.
- Substitutions allowed by either team on any dead ball.
- Goal kicks are not to cross mid-field in the air (penalty: indirect kick from mid-field).
- No punt or toss by goalkeeper shall pass midfield in the air (penalty: same as in item #5).
- No Direct Kicks or Indirect Kicks in the Penalty Area (all kicks are outside the box and indirect - Meaning the ball must touch at least 1 other person before entering the goal.

- Penalty kicks will be awarded if the penalty calls for it.
- Game length: two 20 minute halves. With a 2 minute halftime
- Running Clock - the clock will not be stopped and no additional time added at the end of the game. Only the center referee will keep time.
- 30 Second Water Breaks will be given at approximately 12 min into the half. (Players will get water - No coaching during Water Break)
- Maximum number of players on the field for U-10 is 8 players per side (If a team does not have enough players then both teams will play with the lesser teams players + 1 sub. Meaning - If a team only has 8 players then both teams will play 7 on the field to allow for one sub. (If a team does not have 6 players then the game is forfeited.)
- If a game is canceled due to weather no makeup game will be assigned.
